When Mars placed in 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th from Janma Lagna in your Rasi ( Kundali) chart, it is called kuja dosha. Transition between Kuja to Rahu is called Kuja Rahu Sandhi. The Sandhi shanthi should be done before 6 months of transition .There will be some hostility between these planets, that may cause ill health,accident etc.

First Navagraha homa needs to be done. Then for the sandhi grahas special 6-8 dravyas are offered based on Kuja Rahu sandhi.Sandhi graha japas also done in Mandala and Kalasha.  Maha Mruthyunjaya homa is also done for the long living.
